A disgraced mayor and an unconventional YouTuber, David Hecq, better known as Gunhed, was the ideal candidate to write a book about cursed video game consoles and other machines that have fallen into the depths of video game history.

This damned book covers the terrible confrontation between Atari, Mattel, and Coleco in the late 1970s, which ultimately ended with the video game crash. And yet, at the beginning, people believed in these machines. They sold us dreams in pixels and promised us a thousand and one gaming wonders.

The book also explores the incredible story of the Konix Multi System, essentially a home arcade system featuring a seat mounted on hydraulic actuators. Instead, we got an explosion mid-flight, followed by its disappearance into the black hole of video game history, where we sometimes have the unfortunate tendency to remember only the successes.

Despite these spectacular failures, there were people (and a few women) who devoted themselves wholeheartedly to these projects and, through perseverance and passion, managed to bring them to market.

Surely, you’ll agree that these people deserve, at the very least, for their stories to be told...
