A disgraced mayor and an unconventional YouTuber, David Hecq, better known as Gunhed, was the ideal candidate to write a book about cursed video game consoles and other machines that have fallen into the depths of video game history.

This second volume covers the Vectrex, the UFO of the 1980s; the Amiga CD32 and the terrible demise of Commodore; the Jaguar, Atari’s final roar; and finally, the NEC PC-FX: the great disillusionment.

In short, as you’ll have understood, after exploring the tragic stories of the ColecoVision, Konix Multi-System, and PC Engine SuperGrafx in the first volume, we continue our journey through the twists and turns of video game history, particularly the parts that are rarely told.

Behind these spectacular failures were people (and a few women) who devoted themselves wholeheartedly to these projects and, through perseverance and passion, managed to bring them to market. Surely, you’ll agree that these people deserve, at the very least, for their stories to be told.

In any case, these ill-fated stories are told from the “user’s” perspective, that is, mine! A former video game retailer, I add numerous personal anecdotes to my impressions of those somewhat crazy years, when new gaming systems were being released almost every month.
