A flagship genre in the 1990s, beat'em ups were the cream of the crop for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. While it may not be as popular as the Streets of Rage trilogy or the beastly Golden Axe, Comix Zone is an integral part of that big family. But far from being limited to a copy of its predecessors, this game offered, at its release, a profound questioning of the tropes of the genre accompanied by a universe that could not be more original. This book offers a look back at this unique title with two of its designers: Peter Morawiec and Christian Senn.
