In the dissemination of discourses on the past, video games now outclass the novel, the cinema, or the comic strip. If only by the time devoted to them, they even surpass the influence of school, as confirmed by studies in France, the United States and Quebec.

The game Assassin's Creed, developed by the company Ubisoft, is the one that most attracts the attention of teachers by the quality of the historical reconstructions and the likelihood of the sets. On the other hand, for certain observers, this rigor would make all the more insidious the threat which weighs on the pupils.

Should we seek to remove students from the influence of video games? Or should we, on the contrary, wash our hands of it and leave the field open to those who exploit memory to make a profit from it? Neither of these answers is the right one for Marc-André Éthier and David Lefrançois, who have nourished their reflection with professional historians, some of whom are directly involved in the development of the game.
