SWEDISH VIDEO GAME DEVELOPMENT: FROM THE 50s TO THE 90s

Martin Lindell, Thomas Sunhede

With games such as Minecraft, Candy Crush Saga and Battlefield, Sweden is today considered one of the world's most successful countries in video game development. But what did it look like before these successes? This book tells about the emergence of the Swedish gaming industry. From experimenting on mainframes in the 50's and odd little game developers to classic home computers, via the demo scene and onwards to the studios of the early 90's that would seriously conquer the world.

The source is mainly 150 interviews with those who were involved in creating the Swedish game wonder. The book has taken over two years to produce and is more than 500 pages. It's time to delve into shady homemade games for ABC80 and funny anecdotes about the primitive computers of the time.
