SPECTRUMPEDIA - VOLUME 1

Alessandro Grussu

Spectrumpedia is a work made with the specific purpose, never attempted before, to collect in a single text, in a concise but exhaustive way, everything that is essential to know about one of the most popular home computers of the 1980s: the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. First appeared in Italian in 2012 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Spectrum’s launch, it is now presented in an English translation, written by the author himself, characterized by a considerably revised, expanded and updated content.

Spectrumpedia looks at the past, present and future of the Spectrum, by reconstructing its history and the importance it had into leading an entire generation of users towards the ‘digital revolution’, examining the new hardware and software created by the enthusiasts’ community worldwide and showing the perspectives opened by contemporary systems derived from the Spectrum or compatible with it. In addition, since it was originally conceived primarily for Italian readers, an entire chapter has been dedicated to the role played by the Spectrum in Italy.

Spectrumpedia aims to be a useful point of reference for anyone interested in the computer conceived by Clive Sinclair and, more generally, in the history of home computing, hardware and software development and video games.
