We don't just play video games to pass the time, but to expand our social network, acquire communication skills, or learn a foreign language. The video game experience contributes to shaping cognitive patterns, developing technical and social skills, and, more generally, reconfiguring our relationship with the world. This is why video games, once a somewhat marginal field, are becoming a research area in their own right.

This book is a continuation of the work of the Homo Ludens research group at the University of Québec at Montréal.
