S!CK Magazine

S!CK Magazine takes a deep look at the creation of Shadow of the Colossus—Fumito Ueda’s foundational masterpiece—examining its symbolism, mythic meaning, and “subtractive design,” guided by one of the remake’s architects.

To better understand the classic’s universal impact, the issue includes a conversation with Mak Malovic, an artist responsible for the architectural side of the lavish remake. Topics include design-by-subtraction, the harsh poetry of the Forbidden Lands, the mythologies woven into the colossi, and a substantial section on architectural references. The centerpiece is a 70+ page feature, illustrated with an original double-sided artwork created specifically for this issue by Shawn Sheehan.

As part of its ongoing “cross-culture” angle, the issue also puts its analysis in dialogue with creators connected to works like MediEvil (Jason Wilson), Citizen Sleeper (Amos Roddy / Guillaume Singelin), “Frontier” (Guillaume Singelin), Alan Braxe, and Evil Dead Rise (Nick Bassett, Tristan Lucas).
