Esports describes the world of competitive and organized gaming for challengers in the space of virtual gaming. Leagues, teams, and even individuals face off and spar in popular video games that many play at home such as Fortnite, Leagues of Legends, Hearthstone, Overwatch, and even Madden NFL. These competitions are streamed online and even have filled stadiums to maximum capacity originally intended for football or soccer teams easily demonstrating the millions of fans all over the world tuning into these intense matches. However, even with the massive following and acceptance of esports into the world, many questions continue to arise of what esports consists of, how the industry is becoming a phenomenon in today’s culture, and what parents can do about the rise of esports in their family’s lives.
