THE ART AND MAKING OF STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED

Brett Rector, W. Haden Blackman

The Art and Craft of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" (initially known as "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Art of the Game") is a literary work that showcases the pre-production visual elements of The Force Unleashed video game, which was released in August 2008. This book provides an in-depth exploration of the game's conceptual origins, including dialogues with George Lucas concerning the game's integration into the Star Wars canon, along with details about unused game concepts and associated artwork. It concludes with sections dedicated to the cutting-edge technology incorporated into the game's design.

The book features a foreword by Hayden Christensen and is co-authored by Haden Blackman, who served as the project lead, and Brett Rector, the assistant producer on the game development team. Initially titled "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Art of the Game," the book was meant to introduce a concept known as "The Council," set in an era 500 years following Darth Vader's demise, during which the Sith and Jedi had formed a precarious alliance. However, this concept was ultimately excluded from the final version.
