THE 100 BEST GAMES

The book is the result of a partnership with the British company Future Publishing. The original ranking, from the English volume The 100 Best Videogames, was compiled by readers of the respected magazine Edge and then refined by industry professionals and the magazine’s journalists. It became a celebrated work for the way it treated the chosen games, with in-depth texts that not only captured the essence of the best games but also highlighted their importance as cultural products.
The Brazilian edition underwent an elaborate adaptation process to create a national identity in its selections and perspectives. The ranking was reworked by a panel of experienced Brazilian gaming journalists, resulting in a list substantially different from the British edition: 42 titles are entirely new, and of the 58 originals that remained, only one retained its position from the foreign list. Thus, the collection better reflects the specifics of the history and context of games in Brazil.
The meticulous translation process preserved the integrity of the Edge texts, and clear guidelines directed the creation of the new texts to achieve a level of excellence throughout the work. With a distinctive approach that moves away from conventional reviews, the essays offer fresh perspectives on well-known products in an engaging and enriching way.
The 100 Best Games is another work from the gaming book division of Editora Europa, continuing the effort begun with The Art of Video Games to establish a gamer library that meets the expectations of Brazilian enthusiasts.
