Arno Görgen, Tobias Unterhuber
Games are embedded in political structures through production, distribution and consumption. They not only reflect their environment, but are also significantly shaped by it. The contributors ask about the transdisciplinary analysis of such »politics of the game«: Within which legal, social and political rules does the game take place? What is the power structure of the actors involved in the game? And how does the industry deal with current political discourses? In doing so, they consider numerous forms of play(s) from a diachronic and synchronous perspective and make it clear: playing is a highly political act.
