What relationships exist today, in the era of digital convergence and post-mediality, between cinema and videogames? Can the respective specificities of their languages harmonize with each other? If so, within what limits?
Examining the diverse literature produced on the subject so far, this book provides an interpretation of the phenomenon in light of the concepts of hybridization and remediation, problematized in relation to the economic-technological context, the debate between ludologists and narratologists, and theories of the ontology of expressive forms. Analyzing a wide range of filmic and videogame texts, the author explores the multiple facets of mutual influences between the aesthetics of cinema and videogames, whose boundaries are increasingly dissolving, giving way to new spectacular paradigms.
