The video game industry, which started with the physical and gradually digitized over time, has succeeded in surpassing the film and music industries on a global scale in many ways. Contrary to many sectors that were adversely affected during the quarantine period with Covid-19, interest in digital games increased day by day, and game sales both in Turkey and globally gained tremendous momentum.
In the field of Game Studies, where many researchers and academics are involved today; Publications are made under many different disciplines and research titles such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, history, communication, artificial intelligence, women's studies.
The book named “Digital Games 1.0 Gameplay and Meaning” is important in terms of being the intersection point of different disciplines. The book, which aims to look at the games with a critical eye, consists of sections that have different outputs with the close reading technique.
The book, which aims to show that games are not just entertainment tools, and that different outputs can be obtained from games with the right analysis, reveals that games are a communication environment that can be approached from different angles with different methodologies.
