"Cartographies To Navigate Ergodic Narratives: Notes [Towards] the Analysis of Video Game Discourse from Visual Studies" seeks to be an invitation to the development of methodologies and tools for the analysis of video game discourse. Here we offer various conceptual attempts that contribute to an approach to the analysis of the discourse of video games, understanding them as manifestations of contemporary visual culture.
With this essay we aspire to generate materials that are accessible and of benefit to student bodies interested in the analysis of video games and their narratives; which allows paying to the generation of knowledge through the critical approach of these types of text from the transdiscipline of visual studies and discourse analysis. In the same way, we seek to stabilize theoretical concepts that can facilitate teachers and scholars in the design of educational tools and programs around participatory digital narrative arts. We hope that this essay is one of many steps towards the generation of more and better theories, instruments and cartographies for the analysis of video game discourse.
